The Challenge
Kola & Co. made exceptional artisan snacks with a loyal local following — but their visual identity looked homemade. They had inconsistent packaging across 3 product lines, no brand story, and kept losing shelf consideration to cheaper competitors who simply looked more credible.
Our Approach
We started with a positioning audit: who buys artisan snacks in Lagos, what signals quality to them, and what gap existed in the market. The insight: Lagos food buyers equate craft with honesty, but they need that honesty expressed through precision, not rusticity. We built an identity that felt handmade and premium at the same time: a wordmark rooted in traditional Yoruba textile patterns, a warm earth-toned palette, and packaging copy written to the buyer holding the product in a store, not scrolling Instagram.
